The Arctic Youth Futures Workshop was held in Reykjavik from October 12–14, 2025, convening youth from across the Arctic to explore youth well-being and empowerment. Organized by the Arctic Mayors’ Forum, Fulbright Arctic Initiative, HeartLab (CAMH), and Harvard Kennedy School’s Arctic Initiative, the workshop built on previous Arctic Policy Hackathons by supporting youth participation in policy discussions.
The workshop brought together 14 youth from across the Arctic, and support from NORA contributed to funding for participants from Norway, Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands. In total, NORA funding supported the participation of 5 youth from the NORA region. All participants attended the Arctic Circle Assembly, where they participated in the conference by hosting a session about the workshop and shared their policy recommendations.

Arctic Circle Assembly
All participants attended the Arctic Circle 2025 Assembly from October 16-18, engaging in international Arctic policy discussions and expanding personal and professional networks.
The Futures Workshop was featured in a dedicated session attended by over 65 participants.Youth facilitators presented the workshop’s key outputs—including the video and policy letter—and led a high-level discussion with Arctic leaders and policymakers. Canadian Minister Rebecca Chartrand provided opening remarks at the session, and a panel discussion was facilitated by two Futures Workshop participants, and included MP Aaja Chemnitz, Ambassador Virginia Mearns, Mayor Birgitta Larssen, and two Futures Workshop participants. Both Futures Workshop participants who were on the panel were from the NORA region.
